Since this is a one topic blog, and i have no new info to add, this will be my final post. This blogging has been fun, and maybe, in the future, I will revisit this blog.

What shouldn't you do with Electronic media? (cont.)
As I said before, the don'ts of electronic media is far more greater then the do's. These don'ts are ones that deal with the files of the business.
First off, do not use a company server to store music for 2 reason. For one, this is a form of entertainment, and though some entertainment is nice to have when work feels like a grind, it is not work-related, and should not be stored. As well, these files are using up resources that could be used to do work related tasks. That is also why streaming videos is also a don't. This uses up vast amounts of bandwidth, and will result in being fired. So, keep your entertainment at home, and work at work.
As well, do not share files, or use file sharing services. With anything, security breaches are possible. The files that are used are important files more often then not, so sending important files over a possible insecure service is a terrible idea. If a file is needed to be sent, use services that are only within the company, or just call over the person you need and have them take a look.

There are more things that are deemed bad to do during work. Both of these include the same type of risk. Possibility of malware/viruses.
The first don't is being wary of the attachments that you open at work. For example, here is a sample inbox with the attachments circled.
As you see, that is usually where the attachments are located. You have to make sure that these attachments are from a credible source, for example, an attachment with a schematic for a product from one of your customers. If you do not recognise the sender, never open it. Hackers and viruses have found ways to infect your computer through attachments (virus is saved in attachment.) That is why should never open up attachments.
Keeping with the theme of downloading, you should never download any free software. As the saying goes, nothing is free, so downloading this software is usually a bad idea. This action is inviting your computer to be infected. If you ever go on a site that has a free software download, DO NOT DOWNLOAD. The end result can be from mild annoyance, to a complete computer meltdown. It is devastating on personal computers, but can spell the life or death of a company if that happens.

What shouldn't you do with Electronic media?
As I said in my earlier post, I find this the meatier part of this topic. which include both the serious, well known and things you thought were allowed.
For example, in the discussion that was needed during our missed class before reading week commenced, there was a story of how someone was fired, then re-hired after using government resources to surf the web for porn (Link here). I propose this question. Who in their right mind would watch porn at work. These things are usually done in one's home, alone, as the act done during the viewing of these videos are not work-friendly. The outcome for these individuals, initially, were a certain outcome, as work should not be a place used for pleasure. It is a big 'don't' and should never happen.
Another don't, though relatively small, is what I am doing right now. At this moment, I am using a computer at my workplace to do homework, which has no connection to the business in question. I do have permission from the boss of the company, but it still does not make a use of electronic media. Homework is called that for this reason. It is to be done at home, or places that allow this, such as cafes, libraries, etc. It is not a severe or silly as using it for porn, but is still not a good idea to. You should not assume that the boss will allow you to do this, so always assume that it is prohibited to do.

What should you do with electronic media? (cont.)
Continuing from my last post, you should make your passwords strong and varied. The stronger the password, the harder it can be cracked, as well, if someone does find it out, having many different passwords for other sites will mean that you will not lose much. Though, some hackers are smart enough to take down huge companies (PlayStation network outage). Just try to make passwords strong, and you will probably be alright.
Finally, keep your personal and sensitive information to yourself, even if sites have dedicated 'private' sections. Never put it online, as some people can find out everything about you through just that one picture, and steal your identity, which will ruin your life.
Next time, I'll get to the don'ts of electronic media, which I find sillier, as people had to have done this to have these 'rules' of what you shouldn't do.

The last major post I had talked about what you could do with electronic media, dealing with what the workplace wants, and just some good ideas when dealing with electronic media at work. This post instead talks about what precautions you should take when using electronic media.
First off, like I am doing right now, be weary of what you post in a blog, or on social networking sites such as twitter and Facebook. This article talks about possible employers can get a picture of your work ethic through your Facebook posts. Once something is on the internet, no matter what you try to do, it will always be on the internet. So, if you value your professional life, be careful what you post.
Another precaution is that you should always have up to date virus software. As everyone knows, virus are existent ( here is a list of the numerous amount) and many sites have viruses that you may not know about (a list of the top 100 sites that are virus infected ). So, always have up to date virus software, and be weary of sites. If not, this may happen to you.

Great Video about Social Media do's and don'ts
As said in the title, I found this great Video about Social Media. Can't summarize this video in a few sentences, so, if you have an hour to spare, watch it.
I am just surprised that some people have expectations to see someone lunch/breakfast. It makes me feel that our lives have become meaningless.

What can you do with Electronic media?
So what can you do with Electronic media? Well, firstly you should know the rules of your workplace. Some companies are more lenient then others, but you should assume that what you are doing is acceptable.
Most things that you can do are common sense, like using your email account provided by your employer to send an email to another employee, only if it is not a personal email.
As well, using the Internet to find something that you do not know, like packaging laws in certain places, or the exchange rate of money to different countries.
In essence, the do's of electronic media are things that are work-related, and not personal.
What about things you should do with Electronic media?

Electronic Media: What is it?
In this time and age, many people are aware of what electronic media is, but for the uninformed, let me give you a run-through.
Electronic Media, in the simplest form, is any type of media that uses electronics to display its information. This form of media has substantially increased with the increased usage of the internet. Companies use it to advertise their product, through advertisements on youtube, twitter accounts to keep in touch with customers, and company sites. The rise of social networks has steadily increased these advertisements, and therefore increased the usage of electronic media
The uses that electronic media is used for ranges from journalism sources, like the New York Times, to commerce uses, like websites as Bloomberg. In fact, everything that is seen in media uses a form of electronic media.
It is a fabric of our life that some people need, but as some people know, it is not always the time to use it, and some uses are not a good idea to have.
In future blogs, I will talk about what you should and shouldn't do with electronic media.
